Sara in the City: Featured in The Leader News
Sara in the City is excited to share that Sara Heald was recently featured in The Leader News! The article highlights Sara's event-planning services and showcases some of the unique and memorable events she has organized.
One of the featured stories involves April Roberts, who needed a venue and enough pumpkin pies for a picnic serving 200 people with less than a month to plan. Sara successfully organized the event at George Ranch Historical Park in Richmond, where clients of Roberts Wealth Management enjoyed a day of fun activities, delicious catered barbecue, and plenty of pumpkin pie.
April was one of the first clients of Sara in the City, a custom event-planning company Sara launched last fall from her home in Oak Forest. As a wife, mother of two, and former board member of the Oak Forest Homeowners Association, Sara started her business after 17 years of experience as an event coordinator in Houston, Colorado, and New Orleans. Her journey in event planning has taken her around the world, including Europe and Australia, and she is thrilled to bring that experience to her clients in Houston.
Sara's journey into event planning began with a job at Emeril's in New Orleans, which inspired her to switch from pursuing law to a career in hospitality. From planning parades down Bourbon Street to coordinating unique events like a CEO giving a speech from a hot air balloon, she has had the opportunity to create some truly unforgettable experiences.
One memorable lesson early in her career involved taking a bus full of people to the wrong location for a swamp tour in Louisiana—a mistake that taught her the importance of confirming plans and attention to detail. Since then, Sara has orchestrated a wide range of events, including rodeo-style team-building activities and a World War II-themed party in an airplane hangar.
Sara is also committed to collaborating with local businesses, such as working with local florist Frankie + Flora and Shady Acres-based linen company House of Hough to create beautiful table decorations for Valentine's Day. She also loves hiring other Houston moms whenever she can!
